Dr. Wolfgang Moritz is co-founder and Head of External Collaborations and IP at InSphero and responsible for early stage product development. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry from the University of Zurich and spent 4 years as a postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston where he was involved in Diabetes related research. Back in Switzerland he led a research group at the University Hospital of Zurich focused on pancreatic Islet Transplantation and later in the surgical department, overseeing several projects interrelated to the diseased liver. He was also appointed as technical director of the HLA tissue typing laboratory of the University Hospital in Zurich. In 2009 Wolfgang Moritz co-founded InSphero, a company dedicated to the development and commercialization of standardized and highly functional organotypic microtissues amenable for efficacy and safety testing for the pharmaceutical, chemical and cosmetics industry. He oversees several H2020, Eureka/Eurostars and nationally funded projects dedicated to the development and commercialization of advanced in vitro test systems and related applications.
